For over 25 years, the Urban Ministry of Hope Church has offered life-changing experiences through the Urban Plunge and Justice Tour of Civil Rights Movement. The Urban Ministry serves over 1,000 families annually through Thanksgiving Food Drives, Backpacks for school children and sponsoring families during Christmas with the Tree of Hope. Our ministry has been avid about serving 100’s children annually from the inner city by with Resurrection activities and hosting Vacation Bible School sessions during the summer at various churches in South Memphis, Frayser and other areas of the city.

Oasis of Hope - Read to Succeed Program

Description...

Oasis of Hope would like your help with their READ TO SUCCEED program for elementary students! They are in need of 2 coordinators (leadership positions) and other volunteers to help improve students' reading skills, share Bible stories, help with scripture memorization, and foster a mentoring relationship. 1 coordinator and 8-10 volunteers are needed each Monday and Wednesday from 4:15-5:45. STREETS needs volunteers for 1-time service projects including providing meals or serving at weekly block parties at 430 Vance and 1304 N. Graham. STREETS Ministries, through the love of Jesus Christ, engages, encourages, and equips youth to achieve their potential by realizing their God-given purpose. STREETS needs volunteers for their Pathways mentoring program to help youth develop life skills, expose them to cultural experiences, and encourage a positive life in Christ. STREETS Ministries, through the love of Jesus Christ, engages, encourages, and equips youth to achieve their potential by realizing their God-given purpose. STREETS needs volunteers for their STREETS SMARTS reading program on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:30-4:30 at 1304 N. Graham. Volunteers do 1-on-1 reading with 2nd and 3rd graders.
